November 12. No more pick-your-own apples this year due to this week's cold overnight temperatures. Thanks for a wonderful u-pick season. Hard to beat a crop like the one we had this year. Still plenty of store apples (see above).

Illinois’ state apple. Developed by the Purdue, Rutgers, and Illinois Co Op. This is a crisp, juicy apple with a good balance of sweet and tart, so named for its golden color and rush of flavor. It is a great apple that can be used for eating, sauces, baking, and juice. Can be stored for at least 7 months if stored properly.
This is a crisp, tart apple with an aromatic flavor. The flavor mellows the longer the apple is stored along with the degree of hardness. Apple becomes almost black after storage. This is a good apple for baking, juice, and cider. Can be store 4-5 months.
